why is the mona lisa so popular... especially since i can draw much better?

she looks like a sad victim of awful plastic surgery and the colors look like depression why is it so popular? it's a crappy painting!

1. You can draw better than Leonardo DaVinci??? And you know more about the quality of one of his paintings than generations of Art experts. Amazing. Why are you wasting your time on Yahoo Answers? 2. First, art is subjective. Second, when you see your art is better than someone else's, you ought to provide examples. Third, take an art history course some time.
3. Whether you are a wonderful artist or not is subject to interperetation. Just like The Mona Lisa The Mona Lisa was critiqued and shown favorable by a majority. Your art may not.
4. Hmmm...I was going to answer, but I am thinking better of it now. But FYI, it was a portrait. So, you are being very hard on the woman. It is a french treasure that has so much rich history behind it. It even came to America on loan during the Kennedy Administration, and even THAT history is fascinating. Maybe before you make flip comments you could take a second to look up the Mona Lisa on a search engine. Perhaps my dear, you think that you can draw better, but I have never heard of you. Hmmm...maybe in the future I will? Or perhaps you are too self important?

7. Sure you draw much better! Have you seen any of his other work? He was a genius and the mona lisa is an amazing example of his life accomplishments.
8. you have probably seen it only as a reproduction of some kind? have you ever seen it close up? it's not my favourite image either, but it is an incredible painting. did you know that even xrays don't show any brushstrokes?
