Why did Michael Jackson do that plastic surgery on his face?
someone told me it was because he had burned his face or something and others told me he wanted to be white... why did he do it?

- He was abused by his father when he was little and didn't want to look like him when he got older. He also had a skin disease called vitiligo, which made his skin break out in patches of white, so he bleached his skin for that.
- He didn't. And the whole world has to answer right now just to tell you once again who's bad.
- He had a skin disease called vitilligo, which makes your skin develop white patches. So he either walks around looking weird with spots and patches of white, or get it evened out. (which is what he did)
- he couldnt stand looking at the man in the mirror, although turning his skin white is not true, i believe he vitiligo
- His face was burned..
- I can tell you he was different i'm sure he had reasons for doing what he did..but the first answer sounded true.
- Well the reason his skin turned white was because he had a sking condition called Vitiligo which destroys the pigment of the skin. Also, the plastic surgery because he thought he was ugly (which he wasn't) and when he was growing up his dad made fun of him calling him ugly and his brothers called him "big nose". He hated what he saw in the mirror because he thought he was looking more and more like his dad, whom he hated, so he saw himself as ugly. It affected him greatly. I really wish his dad and brothers would have been more considerate to Michael's feelings though and then maybe he wouldn't have gone so far with the plastic surgery.
- wanted to be white? lol..are we still entertaining this ignorance? he had vitiligo, and judging by the way the media treated him, he was BLACK
- His father used to abuse him and call him "big nose." He had a very hard life and must have been very insecure so he became an addict to these surgeries and messed up his appearance. Hope that helped.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aq8icJ_1JFeye.cycDw9xRXsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090630231733AAjuYXg
- i think its cause he wants to look like peter pan, have you seen his house? he has this huge peter pan thing going on in his yard
- i think he was trying to look like janet. i know the nose was for some kind of breathing purposes he wasn't breathing right or something. he bleached his skin because he wasn't comfortable being black. which is really ironic...becaue he sings the song black and white when all along..HE'S the one who wasn't comfortable with being black.
- his skin has to do with his skin disease , mostly african americans are effected by it. Its when darker toned african americans form caucasion toned white spots all over their body and with michael he wanted it to be even so he made his whole body that color. as far as the facial changes i think it was some peter pan fantasy he had going on , that was no medical excuse
- What's known about Jackson is that he was horribly abused as a child, he abused children, he loved children and disliked his father. What can be speculated is that his mistreatment of children, which conflicts with his love for children tormented his already damaged mind. Every time he looked in the mirror, perhaps he would see his father. I don't think he wanted to look white as much as he wanted not to look like his dad. At some level, he must have known that he was hurting himself, but that may be one way of coping with the horrific things he was capable of.
- He didn't have any PS it just changed through-out the years and his skin got white all a sudden, like, BAM That's what he said...... :| R.I.P.
- He didn't like the way he looked.
- No..it actually didnt have very much to do with that. When he was burned it was just his scalp. But he did have plastic surgery for a cleft chin because he didnt want to resemble his dad. Him turning white wasnt completely intentional. He had a skin disease called vitiligo that causes skin to lose color so he had white patches in alot of areas. Actually he started wearing dark makeup to cover it up but it was getting serious so he had to even it out. =/ After he treated his burn though, he had another surgery done..on his cheek bones and nose. So there was a reason for everything that happened to Michael. People were just quick to judge and had to say bad things about him and its not fair at all. =( R.I.P. Michael Jackson..Your Music Will Live Forever =(
- vitiligo doesn't affect anyones skin so cleanly, it makes patches of pigmented skin and patches of skin with no pigment, for his entire body to become white he would have had to bleach his remaining skin in what they call depigmentation. this process leads to sun sensitivity, to the point where you can no longer be outside without the appropriate measures, it also affected your eyes... So even if he had vitiligo it would have never turned ALLLL of his skin bright white, he had to have bleached the remaining unaffected skin I think he wanted to look more like Peter Pan and thats why he took all those extra steps for himself, in regards to the nose jobs and numerous plastic surgeries. Peter Pan was his idol and he even took steps to build his own NEVERLAND.. what more proof do you need than that???
- I'm watching the Martin Bashir interview from 2003 and MJ actually says he has NOT had any plastic surgery on his face- that it changed because of "growing older". LOL. He then talked about how his dad made fun of his looks when he was little, saying "I know you didn't get those looks from me. Must of been from your mothers side." Its a known fact that words can hurt for a lifetime, and MJ is proof that its true.
- Okay yes please get off the concept of "he wanted to be white" that's just a bunch of ignorant rumors.... Really though you'll never really know why he did it... Michael claims before he died that he only had 2 plastic surgerys done and he did not intentionally try to change his skin color. He didn't burn his face he burned the top of his head during a pepsi commercial... so that doubtfully had affect on him The one i believe the most is the vitiligo disorder, which is a disorder that cause depigmentation in PATCHES of the skin... so i think he wanted to match the patches by bleaching his skin...
- During one performance he accidently burned his hair. After that he started all the surgery. It's more of a mental thing than anything else. He looked in the mirror and saw a face which he thought was ugly. After having a hard childhood with his father, he had low self esteem which led him to his first surgery. After that people kept accusing him of wrong doing and his spirit was literally crushed. Because of that he hated himself even more and wanted anything to change himself. That's why he did multiple surgeries.
